THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Workers clashed during the South Regional Study Camp organized by the KSU state leadership at the Rajiv Gandhi Institute in Neyyar Dam. The activists split into groups and clashed during the DJ party on Saturday at midnight, the second day of the three-day camp. The window panes of the institute were broken. Parassala Constituency President Sujith and Nedumangad Constituency incharge Abhijith were injured. The conflict was sparked by a dispute over the admin rights of the WhatsApp group to share organizational matters.
Neyyar Dam Police said that no case has been registered as no complaint has been received. Following the incident, the KPCC leadership intervened and stopped the camp, but it resumed today morning after settlement talks. After the camp ended on Saturday, there were performances including folk songs. The clash happened during this.
A committee comprising KPCC general secretaries Pazhakulam Madhu, MM Naseer and Dalit Congress state president AK Shashi, who is in charge of the Rajiv Gandhi Study Center, reached the camp and took evidence. Some activists were found to have committed offences that would bring shame to the organization. The preliminary report will be handed over to the KPCC president tomorrow. A detailed report will be provided later. Workers from Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha and Idukki districts participated in the camp.
No big clash: KSU
KSU State President Aloysius Xavier said that there were some disputes in the regional camp but it is being exaggerated and presented as a big clash. News like there was a big clash is the agenda of some media. Action will be taken against those who brought the organization into disrepute. The reason behind the incident was a dispute over a campus WhatsApp group. KPCC will cooperate with the inquiry committee. Strict action will be taken against those who spread the internal affairs of the campus outside.
